About Studio 1919

Studio 1919 are launching a new TV documentary project to feature the life, work and lasting impact of Dan Leno.

Co-founded by Writer/Director Thomas Everchild and Actor/Trainer Philippa Hammond

Studio 1919 has a history of theatre and film making, writing, directing and producing plays, cabarets and one woman shows at the Edinburgh Festival.

“Turning the Handle” written and directed by Thomas Everchild and performed by Philippa Hammond has been produced at the Brighton and Edinburgh Festivals as part of the “Glimpse” quartet of plays. A comedy-drama, it’s the tale of a lady who in her youth in 1902 made naughty What the Butler Saw Mutoscope films. Many other performances since.
